Though not intelligent, I was counted among the bright students during my school days. It was great to achieve good grades in 10th std. By seeing the shining report card without giving much of a thought I joined science stream with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics as my major subjects. Unfortunately I was a student of Literature type of subject and these numbers and formulas din make any sense to me. I loved fairy tales, fictions, writing elaborate stuff. But to my bad luck science was very objective with formulas, derivations yakksss!! And God knows what not. I hated even attending classes. But it was me choose this path And had to walk on it at least till I saw a turn..
Finally somehow I managed to clear 11th (actually was kicked) to 12th. I cried a lot for 2 days but when college started nothing changed.. We a group of 4 were consistent in not attending classes. I, Shweta, Ashwin and Nitay. We planned everyday and enjoyed every moment of college hour. Jus took out the bikes and speed out of the city…
After enjoying the whole day out it was time for coll to get over and we return back home. I and shweta were on a active and ashwin, nitay were on other bike.
I was riding and as usual was a little fast. We reached Military Mahadev.. We were on congress road and were a lil relaxed as there was one-sided traffic.
We were not very fast, guys had already sped off.. Suddenly Shweta saw the place where we get good sugarcane juice along with a snack called alipak. Shweta pointed at the place and said will come here tomorrow. I just turned my head to see the place. We were unaware that traffic on other side was diverted due to some repair. Heard some stupid truck honking loudly… The Army truck was coming towards us. It was fast.. Horning loudly… we were busy discussing the sugarcane juice and laughing….. Our sudden attention went towards fast approaching truck…
“AAAaaaaaaa…. AAAAaaaaaa………” we both shouted loudly. Truck driver had applied breaks.. I had turned away.. Though we were safe everything was blank for a minute. My hands were trembling we stopped at road side..
Ashwin Nitay rushed back after hearing us shout… They came calmed us down. “we thought u both gone” they said.
Though today we laugh at the incident I think I saw death closely that day. It taught importance of a second in which I was saved.
I learnt 2 things from the incident:
1. Every second is important
2. Drive carefully….
I THINK I FOLLOW THEM TODAY :)
